OUR TALENT:
Music this evening will be provided by the White Mountain Céilí Band. They are Dexter Harding (tenor banjo), Fiona Howell (flute), Siena Kaplan-Thompson (fiddle), and Mike Levine (guitar). Our caller is Dugan Murphy.
COSTUME PARTY:
You're invited to wear a fun costume in celebration of Halloween! No problem if you come dressed as yourself.
Everyone in attendance will be invited to participate in the grand march at the middle of the evening. Afterward, prizes will be awarded for best costumes!
We're committed to a safe and welcoming dance environment for everybody - including you! So, keep this in mind when choosing your costuming:
- Don't dress as a culture not your own
- Don't darken your skin
- Don't wear masks that cover your face (it inhibits consent, as the folks dancing with you don't know who you are)
- Don't wear objectifying or hyper sexual costuming
- Don't perpetuate dangerous or offensive stereotypes (examples include "terrorist", "gangster", "undocumented immigrant", etc.)
- Don't dress in a way that is sexist or classist (examples include "hobo", dressing as a gender not your own to sexualize or mock, etc.)
Basically: Be respectful and have fun. :)
